Response of Why Choosing "Lying Cotton" as the Journal Name

When selecting the poem and picture for the journal, we come out the problem why we choose “Lying Cotton” as our journal’s name. In class we discuss about it. Susan first put up the name “lying on the cotton”, and after our professor modification, we have “lying cotton.”

When I choose the name, I think lying cotton is the best. Lying cotton gives people a kind of relaxing and easy feeling. I hope when reader look at our journal, they would feel relaxed and enjoy the story just like lying on the cotton. And cotton is from nature, when talking about cotton, people usually think about the sunshine and green grass. I hope the thing we convey to reader is just like cotton. We present good and pure story and picture to share with our readers. Lastly, cotton is like clouds in the sky. The name of “Lying cotton” suggests that our journal stands at a high level, and provides high-quality content to reader. We would try our best to make the journal prefect.

Response about Kill Alec

          "Killing Alec" is a story about four people decide to kill Alec for he cheated. Caroline, Anje, Tiffany and me begin to discuss how to kill him. They want to find a right place and kill him in a right way. They cannot use weapons and strangulation. Finally they decide to bury Alec. Then gentle Alec helps them to dig his own grave. Then the four people find that Alec is adorable.

Alec is a bad, gentle, funny and charming man. Women love this kind of bad man. Alec had been cheating on all the four women: Caroline, Anje, Tiffany and I. He is bad but charming.  Alec is honest with his cheating: “Alec didn’t deny it. ‘My love is big,’ he said. ‘One person can’t contain it.’” These words are really bad and shameless; he does not say his was wrong or use other excuse, he just admits his bad by saying “my love is big.” We can see Alec crafty and amorous person. The personality of Alec is complex. When he knows they want to kill him, he just accepts it. What’s more, he helps them to dig the grave out of gentle. Alec is sure that these women love him and they will not kill him.

I find it is interesting that when they decide to kill Alec and go to drug store to buy the right kind of pills, “ Caroline got an extra mango smoothie with protein powder for Alec. ‘It’s his favorite,’ she explained.” This detail is really interesting. They have decided to kill him, but when they are shopping, Caroline still remember what he likes and buy a thing for him. That means Caroline does not hate him for real; she loves him. Women’s personalities are simple: they love Alec, no matter how bad he is.

I am confused about a detail in "Killing Alec". “None of us smoked, but we decided that the occasion called for it. Alec smoked like a pro, another secret he’d been hiding from everyone but Tiffany.”  And in the end: “He climbed out of the hole, glistening in mud. He really was beautiful. We admired him. We exhaled smoke again, slowly this time. Thoughtful.” I cannot understand why writer mention smoke here.

As for the end, I think it would be good if four women just let Alec go. Women always like bad and craft man. 

“We admired him. We love him deeper.”

Weekly Report about the review

Finally I get the website money from school!!! I am so happy. It means that we can pay the website fee, and our art, design, editing group can begin to update the website, and everything will be better. But for we don't have Paypal, I think we can pay the website fee with the help of professor for next money. I am really excited that our review would have the real website!!!

Love's Philosophy

The moment of change is the last sentence "If you kiss not me?" 

The write tries to explain "love's philosophy" through using examples of nature. "The fountains mingle with the river and the rivers with the ocean, the winds of Heaven mix for ever ,with a sweet emotion;" River, ocean, fountains, winds are all emotional in writer's eyes. They fall in love and everything becomes sweet. "And the sunlight clasps the earth, and the moonbeams kiss the sea -what are all these kissings worth" Sunlight clasps the earth and moonbeams kiss the sea, they all love selflessly. That is love, to devote, to do things for lover, to love selflessly, just like the nature. 

The last sentence "If you kiss not me?" The poet makes the change. The poet lists sunlight clasps the earth and moonbeams kiss the sea, the river and ocean, fountains and winds are all in a sweet emotion, everything in nature is fall in love. The philosophy of love is simple — to stay with your lover. So the last sentence "If you kiss not me?" means: you should kiss me.

As the associate editor, my major work is to manage financial affairs and assist two chef editors. For the art group and design group are linked closely, there are many things two groups should do together. The icon I found is a beautiful countryside landscape painting. Around the road, there are flowers in orange. And in the distance, there is a house. The sky is blue and clouds surround the mountain. The painting describes a beautiful, peaceful and quite environment. It makes people feel like go back to home. 

After my edit, the image changes. There is a people taking photo for himself. It seems like the beautiful countryside landscape is famous, there are many visitors come.

Response to Billy's story

Problem

1. They suddenly began to shoot without any words and reasons. Why?

2. A man carries a rabbit when he shoots.

3. One man got shot and his head exploded. How could people’s head explode when he get shoots? 

4. Marty’s girlfriend suddenly comes out. 

Actually I think this problems make Billy's Story interesting. Without the problems, the story would be normal and boring. Those weird things which makes us confused , are the essence of the story. Jake goes to return the dog to the psychopath leader. Then they suddenly have guns and  begin to shoot. Then some people died and Marty’s girlfriend suddenly comes out. Marty’s girlfriend died, and Marty becomes very angry. The cross explores and he shoots the people who kills his girlfriend. 

When I see the story, I feel that it is very weird and ridiculous. But I can understand the story— there is no logic and reason, it just an imagination. I used to do the thing like protagonist, made a strange story with friends, in the story we can do anything. It is very funny for we don't need to think about the truth of the story. Anything can happen without reasons.
